Ultrafine particles of various metals and alloys (Ti, Cr, Fe, Co, Pd, Ti-Co and Ti-Fe) were prepared by gas evaporation method in Ar and H_2 gases. Structure or morphological differences in Ar and H_2 gases have been elucidated based on electron microscopy. Some of the present ultrafine particles were typical hydrogen absorber metals. Metallic hydride particles were in Ti. Cr particles with the A-15 type structure were preferentially produced in H_2 gas. The growth form difference was preferentially produced in hydrogen gas. CsCl type structure alloy particles were produced in the present alloy.
