摘要

This is the first of a series of lectures for an engineering seminar on fluid acoustics which focuses on control and utilization of sound generated from unsteady flows. This first lecture presents basic characteristics and generation mechanisms of typical fluid-dynamic sounds experienced in everyday life. The sounds covered include jet noise, turbulent boundary layer noise, air friction sound, separated flow noise, Karman vortex tones, tube banks flow noise, cavity and edge tones, self-excited flow sound, and turbulent sound. The Strauhal number and Reynolds number were important indicators for assessing such fluid-dynamic sound.
