The idea and conceptual outline of "Interactive Engineering" are presented. To meet the growing demand of designing engineering artifacts, information architecture for organizing vast amount of currently available information resources is required, which include the management of scientific database, a catalogue of physical' models and human-interface technique. In contrast to design methods in history, today's advanced design methods have a tendency of estrangement between designer and target artifacts. To design artifacts without losing the advantage of information resources, information architecture called "Interactive Engineering" is pursued. As an exemplary research, the problem of material design is studied.
