Theory of variable-structure control systems: Inception and initial development

摘要

The article presents a retrospective view of the inception and development of the theory of variable-structure systems. Ideas and approaches that have played a formative role in the theory of variable-structure systems and its applications are identified. The leading role of Russian scientists in this process is highlighted.
