Heuristic-Based Placement of Virtual Service Resources by Performance and Power Consumption of Servers

Multiple virtual service resources are placed over a physical server and a specified service is provided with users by using the virtual service resources. In this paper, we propose a heuristic-based placement method of virtual service resources based on the load on each link and the performance of each server. In this method, an approximate solution of an optimization problem is derived with a heuristic algorithm. The heuristic algorithm utilizes one of the five selection algorithm of users whose virtual service resources are placed on physical servers. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method with simulation and we show the effectiveness of proposed method in numerical examples.
