A Smart Interface Development Architecture for Knowledge-based UI Design Support and Runtime Adaptation

As new device technologies continue to emerge on the market, new opportunities are exposed through their usage in collaborative work and distributed networking. Mobile collaborative work is gradually becoming an integral part of every company's business and development process, so that particular attention has to be paid in designing intuitive user interfaces to facilitate the use of these devices. With the diversity in form factors, input and output modalities of these new device technologies, the traditional approach to human computer interaction is also rapidly transformed towards novel interaction paradigms for ubiquitous working environments with an emphasis on mobility, personalization, context adaptation as well as the introduction of new presentation and interaction techniques. This article reveals the challenges facing many businesses today in bringing their solutions through these devices to customers. It also presents an overview of a novel framework developed to overcome such challenges and enable the efficient use of these computing resources for information dissemination, multimedia collaboration and interaction.
