The Research Experiences for Undergraduate (REU) - Site for Computer Graphics in Rhode Island, USA

In 2004, the University of Rhode Island and IMEDIA Academy were awarded a grant to provide a Site for Computer Graphics as a part of the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program funded by the American National Science Foundation (NSF). The goal of the NSF REU program is to encourage undergraduate students, particularly those from underrepresented groups in science, to undertake postgraduate research degrees and careers in a science-related area. The students participate in a research training seminar series and take a small research project through a complete cycle from writing and reviewing their proposals, conducting the research, writing papers and technical presentations. The students from IMEDIA also traveled to Darmstadt, Germany to undertake a month long International Research Experience.
