The sintering behavior of spinel addedwith TiO2 at 1200℃~1700℃ was investigated and thesintering mechanism was discussed. The resultsshowed that the sinter ability of spinel wasgreatly improved by adding more than 0.5 mass%2.At a low temperature, TiO2 reacted with MgAl2O4 toform MgxAl2(1-x)Ti(1+x)O5 solid solution. from whichAl2O3 and TiO2 were segregatedwhen the temperature was further increased. Theimprovement in sinter ability of spinel isconsidered to be related to the segregation of Al2O3from MgxAl2(1-x)Ti(1+x)O5, the formation of Mg-richspinel and the dissolution of TiO2 in MgAl2O4 crystals.)
