A transit system with a guide and rubbertires has been used in an airport passenger tracktransport system. The Automated People Mover (APM) wentinto service at the New Hong Kong Airport, which wasopened in July 1998. To make the system applicable fortransport in crowded areas, we focused on improving thetransport vehicle's vibration and noise. The APM usedat the New Hong Kong Airport has noise about 7 dB lowerthan convertional vehicles.
