Peculiarities of the dynamical fracture of brittle materials at the critical rates of the fracture front

Based on the model of spherical void expansion in brittle materials and using a concept of critical rates of the fracture front, we studied the stress-strain state in the elastic pre-fracture zone and the region of material fractured by radial cracks. We observed the dynamical overload and fracture retardation of the mechanical effects occurring in the framework of this model.
