Ferrocene-modified polyallylamine was prepared before the construction of an enzyme electrode as follows ferrocenecarboaldehyde was dissolved into the polyallylamine solution, and the mixed solution was filtered and dialyzed after the conjugation. The ferrocene-modified polyallylamine was used for the preparation of enzyme-immobilized polyion complex membrane; three solutions, ferrocene-modified polymer solution, DNA solution and alcohol oxidase solution, were dropped on a glassy carbon electrode, and the electrode was allowed to dry. A potential of +0.6 V vs. Ag/AgCl was applied on the base electrode. After the injection of ethanol to the test solution, the oxidative current was increased. From the results, the enzyme electrode would be used as an alcohol sensor.
