摘要

Image enhancement, especially color image enhancement is a critical area in image processing research. Image contrast enhancement is to enhance the contrast of color image so as to make the image more vivid and beautiful. Shadow is an integral part of color images but its features are different from non-shadow area so that the processing of shadow and non-shadow should also be different. We identify cast shadows by shadow detection method and divide the color image into shadow area and non-shadow area. Then apply color enhancement method in HSV color space in non-shadow areas and shadow areas respectively. Experimental results show that our proposed method based on shadow and non-shadow area can successfully enhance color images.
