A double-layered high-T, superconducting tube, consisting of an outer yttrium-based melt-processed pipe and an inner bismuth-based powder-pressed pipe, generated intense electron pulses with a duration of l.4ns at 80K. Through a modified double-layered tube, in which the pipe walls were each tapered oppositely in thickness along the axes and the tube exit was made from only the melt-processed materials, generated 2.4-ns electron pulses at 70K. Prom these results a melt-processed pipe should not face nanosecond-order electron pulses directly.
