Evaluation method of conformity of interior design styles and wood flooring

The method proposed in this article identifies the features of any wooden flooring material that conforms aesthetically to a variety of interior styles. Evaluation of wooden flooring material by specialists and by general users was carried out in parallel and the results were compared. The evaluations by specialists agreed with certain combinations of different interior styles and their matching wooden flooring materials as obtained through correspondence analysis. The evaluation by general users, however, showed their preferred matches between each interior style and wooden flooring material to be markedly different to those recommended by the specialists, indicating that general users tend to be unable to make appropriate judgments. It was confirmed that specialist assistance or presentation of appropriate information was required for selecting a flooring material that matched the customer's chosen interior style.
