摘要

A method for diagnosing electrical equipment malfunction by means of a cable-induced common-mode noise injection test "BCI (Bulk Current Injection) method" was proposed, which can assist the printed circuit board (PCB) trace design and optimizing the layout of PCBs. The BCI method is extremely robust and is often applied to vehicle equipment and military uses. A grading index has been introduced to identify which PCBs are susceptible to common-mode noise. This proposed method was validated experimentally using four PCBs with the same circuit but different trace designs. It was observed that the noise immunity of PCBs had a good correlation with the values of the grading indices.
