Efforts are under way worldwide to develop electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles in response to energy conservation and atmospheric pollution concerns. Electric vehicles require standardized charging equipment, and so they have not yet become popular. However, some hybrid vehicles have been on the market, as they are driven by fuels only. Since hybrid vehicles must be loaded with many devices such as a large battery, an engine and the motors in its limited space, the relays and other components are required to be of small size and light in weight. In order to satisfy these requirements, we have developed hydrogen-filled relays, and the relay unit which is constructed using buss bar wiring and the combined relay housings.
