From the planning to the development of a commercial helicopter engine

In Japan there have been no commercial gas-turbine engine which developed and finally reached to the practical use. Recently, MG 5 series commercial turbo-shaft engine have developed and received Type Approval from JCAB for the first time in Japan, and MH2000 commercial helicopter which installs two MG 5 engines entered into service from October 1999. Here, some engineering contents of engine and main components (compressor, combustor, turbine) are described, mainly for technical trend, performance and test results.
