Application of Multiple Research Methodologies for Improving Researchers' Understanding and Farmers' Consent: A Case of Introduction of New Inter-Cropping in Northern Namibia

Improvement of farmers' adoption of introduced technologies has been alasting challenge in research and extension practices. For this, methodological development has been promoted such as farmer participatory research. However, most of the methods have not well functioned to involve farmers as proactive participants in research. It is essential to organize the roles of various research approaches both from researchers' and farmers' perspectives. This study investigates the functions of different research methods from researchers' and farmers' point of views, drawing an example of introduction of new intercropping of rice and pearl millet, in semi-arid area of northern Namibia.
