摘要

SMES is an energy storage system that stores magnetic energy in a superconducting coil. This paper reports the design of high-temperature superconducting coils for a 100 MJ class SMES system. Three kinds of coil configurations are considered, namely a simple solenoid, a set of multi-pole solenoids, and a toroid coil. Use of Bi2223 or YBCO superconducting wires is assumed in the coil design. An operation temperature ranges from 10 K to 50 K. Changing design conditions and constrained conditions more effective conductor type and coil shapes are examined.
