Preliminary Experiment for Detection Method of Fish Inhabiting Agricultural Drainage Canals Using EnvironmentalDNA

Investigation of distribution and abundance of fish inhabiting agricultural canals is essential for making conservation plans of rural ecosystems. Individual collection using fishing gear and identification based on the fish's morphological characters(direct observation) are usually conducted in investigations. However, such direct observations sometimes consume time, effort and costs. Furthermore they can provide inadequate results depending on individual density, fishing technique and weather conditions. A species detection method not only supplements but also substitutes for the direct observation that is currently required.
