摘要

Effect of temperature on sorption behaviour of a synthesized gel structurally close to fluorine mica mineral, sodium potassium fluorophologopite has been studied for the heavy metal ions Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ The synthesized gel was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, energy dispersive spectrometry, infrared spectros-copy and thermogravimetric analysis and was found to have the composition Nao5K05Mg(AlSi30)F2 6H2O. Effect of temperature on sorption has been studied with respect to varying concentration of metal ions. The overall sorptive capacity of the synthesized gel is found to depend upon number of ion active groups per unit weight of the material The data has been expressed in terms of distribution coefficient (A'd). Sorption data follows Fre-undlich adsorption isotherm. Studies shows that sorption decreases with increase in concentration of metal ions however increases with rise in temperature showing the process to be endothermic.
