Significant vibration problems occurred on the manifold and on the common discharge line of two reciprocating compressors. (Figure 1) handling a mixture of hydrocarbons at a refinery. The vibrations, not stably high and highly variable over time in a periodic way, increased when the two compressors were running simultaneously. The pipes on which more substantial vibrations occurred are shown schematically in Figure 2.
