摘要

Optical cross-connect systems utilizing optical switches are described in context of its surrounding conditions. Several kinds of optical switches as cross-connect devices are compared. Some switches are finding their own best positions, however several ones are in rivaling each other. Even important trend is a surge towards electronics-based "optical cross-connect." To compete with this powerful move, optical switches are needed to prove its usefulness in the real-world network.
