A future vision of The Japan Society of Applied Physics

When I was appointed as president, I paid a visit to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and as the president of the JSAP, I first said, "The JSAP is a very unique group of researchers that connects between basic (science) and application (engineering), and there are almost no academic societies in the world that are similar to the JSAP. For example, our neighbor, Korea, has a Physics Society but, no Applied Physics Society." Then I received: the question, "Is it a good thing? Of course, it goes without saying that collaboration between science and engineering, and collaboration between Industry1 and Academia is a character- istic of our Society and it is a benefit. This spirit is. the heritage we have carried on since the beginning of the Society.
