The firefly squid (Watasenia scintillans) is famous as a luminous creature, and also is one ofthe very important fishery recourses for a long time in the Toyama Bay. The firefly squid is caught by afixed shore net in Toyama and can be obtained in the full vigor without doubt. The Uozu aquarium hasstrong historic connection with the firefly squid and its exhibition. The long-term breeding of the fireflysquid is not established yet, and upbringing of the young squid which hatched is a future work. In theUozu aquarium, an exhibition of the firefly squid light emission has been established as "A firefly squidemission of light experiment". Firefly squid, a creature remaining many mysteries, the development of itsfuture relating studies is expected.
