交通安全に関連する視覚的注意の心理学的研究課題

摘要

Visual attention plays an important role in traffic safety. In this article, recent research on visual attention and traffic safety, particularly relating to driver behavior, is reviewed in terms of three factors affecting traffic systems: humans, vehicles, and roads. Topics include the effect of aging on visual attention assessed by measuring useful field of view, the risk and assessment of distracted driving induced by using in-vehicle devices, inattention caused by roadside structures such as billboards，and visual design to affect driver behavior without imposing burdens on attention. Although autonomous driving technology is being rapidly developed and implemented, the need to investigate visual attention in driving will remain as long as humans play at least a partial role in driving and take responsibility for driving safely.
