Recently, superdeformed (SD) rotational bands in the 40Ca region were observedjl]. They are built on excited 0+ states and observed up to high spin. Thus, in this SD region we can discuss properties of SD states in the absence of rotational effects. As a combination of the 40Ca region and the mass A ~ 60 SD region, we expect the neutron-rich mass A ~ 50 region to constitute a new SD doubly closed region[2]. By means of the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock method, we calculated potential energy curves at angular momentum / = Oh in (neutron-rich) Ca isotopes and obtained SD minima in 40Ca and neutron-rich 50'52'54Ca, as shown in the left panel of Fig.
