1000nm Wavelength Compact In-Line Optical Isolators For Optical Fiber Amplifiers

We have succeeded in developing 980 to 1064nm in-line optical isolators employing (Cd,Mn,Hg)(Te, Se) crystals. A practical 980nm in-line optical isolator, which has insertion losses of <0.8dB,isolations of >= 40dB and the main frame size of PHI 10X44mm, has been achieved for bi-directional pumped EDFA. In-line optical isolators employing these crystals can be practical in the wavelength from 980 to 1100nm.
