Modern Methods of Preventing Veining in Castings Made Using Cold-Hardening Resin-Bonded Sands. Part 1

摘要

A survey of methods of preventing one of the casting defects when using cold-hardening sands is given. Today, the most common method of preventing veining is use of special additives to core washes. Data on the effect of sand composition, portion of reclaimed sand therein are given. Reduction of density of coldbox cores by lowering air pressure produces a beneficial effect.
