摘要

Design and technological features of thin-walled metal-shell molds, and investigation methods, basic data, initial and boundary conditions when calculating the kinetics of solidification using a computer on the basis of solving the thermal conductivity equation are given. Effect of cooling intensity on the width of the two-phase zone, the duration of metal's staying in the two-phase state have been analyzed. Relationship between these variables and the quality and structure of steel castings' metal is shown. Recommendations on ensuring directional solidification when using thin-walled metal-shell molds are given.
