Process technology and service of quartz refractories in steel teeming part 1. special features of technology

Production conditions are specified for quartz refractories with enhanced endurance. The most important technological factor is production and application of extremely concentrated suspensions of fused quartz (moisture 12-13%) having highpolydispersity in slip or centrifugal casting. A method of pressing the ceramoconcrete-based mixtures makes it possible to reduce the porosity of as-formed semiproduct to 7 - 12%. Analysis of the dynamics of quartz refractory production at thePervoural'skii Dynas Works revealed a 4-fold increase in the refractory production over a 4-year period.
