摘要

Background: In patients with heart failure (HF), there are large increases in noradrenaline spillover to the heart, and kidney.Recent evidence suggests that up-regulation of angiotensin II systems in the brain may contribute to this increase in sympathetic nerve activity that occurs during heart failure.Aim: To determine the changes in cardiac sympathetic nerve activity (CSNA) by direct recording in conscious normal sheep and in sheep with HF. To establish whether intracerebroventricular (ICV) infusion of the AT_1 receptor antagonist, losartan, affects CSNA in sheep with HF.
