IHI has produced and developed many aluminum alloy vacuum chambers for large accelerators and other vacuum chambers over 15 years. The TRISTAN project ( High Energy Accelerator Research Organization ), SPring-8 (The Institute of Physical andChemical Research Institute, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute ), B-Factory (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization) were large accelerator projects in Japan and had aluminum alloy vacuum chambers successfully completed by IHI with jointresearch by the clients. The TRISTAN vacuum chambers were the first all-aluminum alloy ultra-high vacuum system in the world, SPring-8 vacuum chambers showed good vacuum performance of pressure lower than l0{sup}-8Pa, and B-Factory vacuum chambers treated with chemical cleaning achieved good vacuum performance.
