In fiscal year 2002 and 2003, Galaxy Express Corporation and IHI have continued the project named "The research and development of virtual prototyping technology" which is consigned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). This system aims at decreasing the cost and term of development caused by design change or repair to the hardware. In the development process of a launch vehicle, this is achieved by confirming the validity and conformity of the design before the assembling of a launch vehicle or combination test at the launch site. In this paper, the requirements that should be satisfied by virtual prototyping are discussed.
