Unbalance has been found between heat input and electric demand in operation of gas turbine co-generation systems. This has not allowed the co-generation system to be operated under optimal conditions. IHI has developed a co-generation system using a new steam-injection system to solve the unbalance problem. The heat input and electric demand ratio of the new system is variable. The new system uses a booster that replaces the conventional superheater used for steam-injection gas turbine systems. Saturated steam is superheated by mixing with hot air in the booster, to obtain more steam than the conventional system.
