Flue gas cleaning systems are currently used for refuse incinerators. The flue gas must be cooled by spraying water in the cooling tower due to the inlet-temperature limitation of the cleaning system. Sprayed water must be completely evaporated in the cooling tower, or removal of wet dust adhering to the wall of the cooling tower and the duct is required at frequent intervals. The time necessary for water evaporation is an important factor for designing the cooling tower. A numerical analysis technique has been developed to predict conditions for water evaporation. The detailed technique and calculation results are described.
