Application of GTAW Welding Robots Nozzels of Reactor Pressure Vessels

Application of robot welding can achieve automaticoperations in nuclear structures where these are needs for costreduction and high quality of welding. Robot welding was appliedto manufacturing the nozzles of the reactor pressure vessel overlay.Robots were arranged to allow efficient operations and the work-station was constructed. Both an operation program for the robotthat can travel automatically on the three-dimensional surfaceshape of the nozzles and the optimum AVC (Arc Voltage Control)were developed. Results of application of the work-station tomanufacturing the nozzles showed automatic operations and highquality welds were achieved.
