A database system has been developed to assist boiler maintenance management and to make documents for proposing repair and remodeling of boilers. This database system stores all the historical data of inspection, remodeling, repairing. accidents. and damage related to the boiler. Two types of search method are available to access the historical data from the database. The key word search allows users to select any historical data specified by the name of parts or types of inspections or year andso on. The graphical approach allows users to select the point of interest in an image or drawing, and display the positions of historical data of inspection, remodeling, re p airing, accidents, and damage on the drawing image. IHI applied the technologyof the geographic information system (GIS) to connect the historical data with the position of the historical data.
