摘要

A risk-based maintenance (RBM) technique has been generated at IHI to optimize inspection and maintenance plans for fossil-fired power plants, which will be deregulated in Japan, and cement plants. This study investigated technical advances and problems resulting from the application of the RBM to materials handling systems. Risk is defined as the multiplication of the likelihood of failure by the consequences of failure of the components or system. This is based on engineering judgment with inspection data, operating condition, fatigue damage assessment, etc. The present study found that the RBM is a useful decision tool to optimize the inspection and maintenance plan and can be applied to the materials handling systems.
