High-resolution Multi-focal VEP:towards better definition of scotomas

Purpose: The mfVBP standard stimulus includes up to 60 areas of the visual field incorporated into 5 eccentric rings. There is, however, high variability between amplitude of various sectors within the tested field. This is in part due to cancellation effects since the area of each stimulating sector projects to a large enough area of the striate cortex that it may include oppositely oriented dipoles. Also monitoring expansion or resolution of scotomas requires detailed mapping of defects. The purpose of this study was to determine if increasing the number of stimulating areas reduces field variability and increases resolution to detect focal scotomas.
