The effect of surface coating on the corrosion behavior of A516 pressurized-vessel steel (A516) and 304 stainless steel (304SS) at 400 deg C in a simulated NaCl-containing environment. was investigated. The results showed that the corrosion kinetics at 400 deg C for both steels obeyed the parabolic rate law. The corrosion rate of A516 was slightly faster than that of 304SS. The scales formed on both A516 and 304SS consisted of SiO_2, TiO_2, and minor Fe_2TiO_5.
