The "Gantetsu pile method" is a steel pipe pilemethod with few surplus construction soil and low noise andvibration. The development of this steel pipe pile methodfocused on "few surplus soil" as chief development concept byconsidering that the disposal of surplus soil from theconstruction of foundations would become a pressing issue inthe near future. The background for the initiative taken inreducing the volume of surplus construction soil, thee3evlopment concept involved, and the basic technology andideas employed to achieve the objective are described.
