New Host and Distribution Records for the Freshwater Fish Ectoparasite Argulus japonicus (Crustacea: Branchiura: Argulidae)

The branchiuran parasite Argulus japonicus (Crustacea: Branchiura: Argulidae) was collected from the body surface of the Rosy bitterling Rhodeus ocellatus from Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. The present study represents the first record of A. japonicus obtained from Kyushu. Rhodeus ocellatus is a new host for A. japonicus. ^g>Argulus japonicus, Japan, new record, Rhodeus ocellatus, new host.
