Secondary mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of acute myocardial dysfunction: possibilities of diagnostics and principles of medication

The so called metabolic medicine, the aim of which is theoretical and applied analysis of metabolic processes at various levels as the basis or background of numerous diseases, has been developing intensively during the last decades. This review discusses peculiarities of the pathogenesis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) that lead to secondary mitochondrial dysfunction (MD). Methods of laboratory diagnostics of MD and possibilities of its pharmacocorrection in patients after AMI are reviewed thoroughly.
