Waterborne fluoroacrylic-polyurethane composite dispersions were prepared by suspension polymerization. Poly-urethane, containing hydrophilic groups previously prepared by step growth polymerization in methylethylketon was dispersed with fluoroalylic monomer and other monomers in water by the phase inversion method. The surface and film properties of the composite dispersions were investigated by the measurement of the contact angles, tensile strength, and elongation and these properties were compared with those of physical polymer blends. The results showed the advantages of the composite dispersions over the physical polymer blends.
