摘要

Recently, IEEE802.11n access points (APs) have become common for wireless local-area networks (WLANs). However, by adopting multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technology for high-speed data transmissions using multiple antennas, the performance of an 802.11n AP can be significantly affected by its setup condition. In this paper, we conducted throughput measurements under various setup conditions of an 802.11n AP including different placement heights, orientations, and positions in a network field. The results show that the throughput is strongly affected by the setup condition, and the best setup condition is different depending on the network field. In addition, we examined the throughput estimation model to find the bottleneck host in the network field so that the AP setup condition can be optimized by maximizing the throughput of the bottleneck host by actually measuring it.
