The optical design method for a wide-viewing-angle LCD without a grayscale inversion

摘要

We examined the conditions that produce no grayscale inversion over a wide-viewing-angle. We also examined the optimum conditions for a retardation film that compensates for the retardation of LC cells in the dark state. Using these conditions, we realized a wide-viewing-angle, high-contrast LCD with a simple structure and high brightness.
