摘要

A delta-sigma phase detector can realize a mobile communication receiver without AGC by directly detecting the phase of a received baseband signal from the ratio of the in-phase and quadrature phase components. This paper studies the performance of a delta-sigma phase detector to apply it to digital communication systems. We explain phase quantization noise of a delta-sigma detector theoretically and show the performance of a PSK/FSK receiver using the detector. Simulation results tell that the required clock in a delta-sigma phase detector is less than a tenth of that in a conventional scheme that detects the phase of a limiting-amplified IF signal by digital processing.
