Evaluation of Crop Profile for Apples in Isparta, Turkey

Domestic consumption is estimated at 32 kg (20 Ibs) of apples per person annually. Apple production in Turkey is currently about 2.002 million tonnes (Table 1) or 3.17% of estimated world apple production. Turkish apple production fluctuates from yearto year. In 2005, apple production in Turkey yielded about 2.500 million tonnes years while decreasing marginally in 2006 due to occurs of extreme late spring frost. Primary apple producing countries include China, United States of America, Iran, Polandand Italy (Table 1).
