Refractive surgery is rapidly spreading, giving importance to post-surgery prediction of visual acuity. In this study, we proposed an objective visual acuity measurement based on the wave aberration of the eye optics. In the proposed method the visual acuity is estimated by comparing the gap contrast of the computed Landolt ring retinal image to its threshold value in the visual nervous system. The threshold values were calculated experimentally from 84 eyes based on each wave aberration and subjective visual acuity. The objective visual acuity of the 84 eyes when compared to its subjective visual acuity. resulted in errors of ±0.09 (LogMAR). This result supports the availability of the proposed met hod.
